CPR & AED Training
Ventricular Fibrillation (or VF) is a condition in which there is an uncoordinated contraction of the cardiac muscle of the ventricles in the heart, making them quiver rather than contract properly.
Ventricular fibrillation is the most common cause of cardiac arrest in patients and is a medical emergency that requires prompt Advanced Life Support interventions. This condition results in cardiogenic shock and the loss of effective blood circulation. As a concequence, sudden cardiac death (SCD) will result in a matter of minutes.
The most reliable treatment of Ventricular Fibrillation is to deliver a controlled electric shock through the heart to stop the chaotic activity and allow it to beat normally again. This process is known as 'defibrillation'.
An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a device that can analyse a casualty's heart rhythm and enable an individual with no formal medical qualification to safely deliver a lifesaving shock.
Abbeymead's CPR & AED training will provide learners with the knowledge and skills to administer First Aid care in an emergency situation using an AED and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Students will receive a certificate of attendance, a CPR & AED First Aid manual, hand-outs and refreshments.
